How to fix fatal jetpack error crashing wordpress.org sites, maybe (GoDaddy)

So your wordpress.org site crashes with this:

Warning: require_once(/home/content/02/7941302/html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/3rd-party/3rd-party.php)

[function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/02/7941302/html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/jetpack.php on line 82

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/content/02/7941302/html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/3rd-party/3rd-party.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php’) in /home/content/02/7941302/html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/jetpack.php on line 82

Or this?

“Fatal error: Cannot find a library with slug admin-pages/class.jetpack-landing-page. in /home/content/02/7941302/html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/require-lib.php on line 22”

Can’t log in with FTP? Don’t know what cPanel is? (Me neither.)

But if you happen to use GoDaddy, you can delete jetpack from in there.

Follow these instructions from GoDaddy on how to access your hosted files.

The stuff you want to delete is under: /wp-content/plugins/jetpack

Delete that stuff and never look back!

  1. Delete that stuff and never look back!

    It should be ok for you to reinstall Jetpack now. WordPress’ automatic updater sometimes fails to update plugins, and some files don’t get copied over properly. In this case, deleting the corrupted plugin helps getting your site back, and you can then reinstall the plugin from scratch by going to Plugins > Add New in your dashboard.

    I hope that helps!
